Right Relationship to Tarot

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about right relationship, in many contexts. When I bring this to tarot study, tarot cards, and tarot readings I am immediately struck by how tarot can so easily be used out of right relationship.

When we come to the cards or to readers obsessively, desperately wanting a certain answer or outcome, we are out of right relationship.

Coming to the cards when overly tired, intoxicated, or in extreme states of distress is also out of right relationship.

It's a funny and sometimes tricky balance, since tarot can indeed help us when we are struggling. It can enlighten, call attention to important details, and sometimes smack us over the head with what we need to know!

So what is in right relationship? Of course it's an individual answer for everyone, but some good indicators that you're on the right path are:

-receptivity to the messages and lessons available from a reading, even and especially if it's not what you wish to hear

-understanding that no matter what the cards indicate, you must take action and responsibility for you own life

-a relatively calm emotional state (know yourself... reading can help in confusion and distress, but if you're too upset to hear and take in the messages, it's not the right time)

-the ability to put the cards down and take space to digest what's been given

How do you define right relationship, in general, and in regard to tarot? Drop me a line and let me know!
